Mission

The mission of Cumberland Capital Partners is to advance economic opportunities and improve the quality of life for lower-income individuals and communities through affordable financing unavailable in the conventional market. We focus our efforts and resources in communities with high unemployment, low median income and high poverty in Tennessee and northern Georgia.

History

Cumberland Capital Partners was founded in 2017 in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee where it focused its early operations. In 2018, Cumberland Capital Partners received its certification as a Community Development Financial Institution from the U.S. Treasury Department’s CDFI Fund opening up new opportunities and resources to serve its communities.

In 2019 and 2020, it expanded its geographic footprint to provide loans, equity investments and development services to businesses and not-for-profits across Tennessee and portions of northern Georgia. Cumberland Capital Partners steady growth can be credited to its deep relationships with partnering financials institutions and its unassuming approach.
